Faster Than A Kiss

Faster Than A Kiss by Tanaka MecaAfter losing their parents, Fumino and her brother hop from one relative to another. Getting tired of constantly moving, she finally decides to quit school and work to support her brother on her own. As they sat on a park bench, her teacher appears in front of her and agrees to her demand of marrying and supporting both her and her brother!! Is he serious or just playing around…!? -Serenus Dreamers

For a manga that does not feature an actual lips-lips kiss untill the second to last chapter, this one is AWESOME. I mean, comedy, drama, a storyline that isnt unique in premise but is certainly unique in development, depth and sub plot AND super cute characters. The bishies werent spectacularly to my preference, but Tanaka Meca made even me go “Sensei is HAWT” at certain points. I mean, I put off this manga because of the cover above for a while, but this is my second time reading it and its still super enjoyable despite its length.

Teppei is an adorable cutie pie and a strong element in the manga for cuteness, comedy and general quality. I also love the little insight at the end of a chapter about him that said he was going to be a “bad boy” when hes older, which if you know Teppei, is SUPER ADORABLE. Fumino, the main gal, cries. A lot. And yet, I did’nt hate her . I KNOW! How is this possible? Because the crying was legitimately acceptable as a balance for her beautifully Tsundrere character and kick ass justice techniques, and she wasnt a whiny-ass character. She was honestly likeable with a plausable negative backstory. She was also ADORABLE. LIKE EVERYONE ELSE IN THIS MANGA.

Even the Sensei in question was adorable, with a well developed and revealed backstory that played well in the main plot, and two sides (or more) to him that created a really rootable and loveable bishounenish guy. AWWW.

AHH! And the story arcs? yeah, none were irrelevant to the development of the plot. Looking back, you realise you have actually gone on a TREK of an enjoyable journey through their relationship over 57 chapters, and none of it was pointless or hinted at things that were never developed. All the secondary characters are developed pleasingly and the manga even has a reoccuring in joke about Oka-chan, though i would have liked to see her get together with a certain yakuza boss (that was the only hinty comment never realised)…

But yeah! Fantastic, art pleasing, story excellent, and characters all ridiculously adorable! And none of it was stupid or face-palm-able!
6/5 yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!

Also, if youre wondering, they may have not kisses on the lips untill the second to last chapter… but that dosent mean it dosent get steamy (by fumino standards NOT YAOI) with kisses elsewhere… and adorable confessions of love…
